Boundary wire, also someone called boundary cable or signal cable, is a must-need installation product for robotic lawnmowers (automower).
There are different sizes and conductors of boundary cables. I’m going to tell you 10 must-know things, and you will become an expert in the boundary-wire market.
The most popular sizes in the market are 2.7mm 3.4mm 3.8mm and 4.2mm.
there are different materials of the outer protective layer, I’ve seen someone mention it is PVC, which is a mistake. The correct material of the outer protective layer is made from PE, however, there are different PE materials, such as HDPE, LDPE, and LLDPE.
The diameter of conductors will be changed due to the different quantities of small conductors, normally you will see 29pcs 0.25mm2((square millimeter ) copper wires, which means, the diameter of the conductor is 1.42mm2 (square millimeter).
More diameters of the conductors are listed below:
24pcs 0.25mm2: 1.17mm2
26pcs 0.25mm2: 1.27mm2
Or can be smaller: 24pcs 0.19mm2: then, the diameter is 0.68mm2
The smaller conductor is the lower price of the boundary wire. It is better to compare the prices for the same conductors, not only for the diameter of the boundary wire.
Let me take an example: the 2.7mm boundary wire can have a 1.42mm2 conductor or 0.68mm2 conductor, however, the prices vary.
The conductors can be TC, TCCA, and TCCAM. TCCA is the most popular one in the market, if you need low resistance, then, TC is the most suitable one, however, it is the most expensive conductor among them.
TC has the lowest electrical resistance among TC, TCCA, and TCCAM. TCCA is the middle one.
If your boundary cables are for a large lawn, and you need low electrical resistance, then, TC is the most suitable one.

The length can be customized, someone prefers 400m per reel.
The boundary wire can be packed by paper reel, plastic reel, and wooden reel. As for smaller boundary wire, it can be rolled into a roll.
